Development Opportunities

13th CSU Symposium on University Teaching

What excites you and what concerns you as a teacher? At this system-wide conference, share with CSU colleagues what you are learning as you experiment with new ways of teaching, perform classroom research on teaching, and/or integrate innovative teaching techniques, tools, and strategies that address curricular and instructional issues. This is also an opportunity for you to interact with faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching across the CSU system.

The CSU Symposium is a peer-reviewed conference for teaching and learning. It seeks to recognize and advance excellent instructional practices, to disseminate innovative ideas, to promote collaboration, and to encourage the continued exploration and evaluation of ways that we teach. Past conferences have proven to be inspiring, energetic events that renew and invigorate CSU's commitment to teaching and learning.

Each session will include a 20-minute presentation with five (5) minutes for questions and comments after each. This year's topics include:

  • Active Learning and Communication
  • Learners and Diversity
  • E-Learning and Technology
  • Community and Group Collaboration
  • Teaching Strategies and Communication
  • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
  • Assessment and Evaluation
  • Course Design for Lesson/Learning Continuity (during campus closures, emergencies, class cancellation)
  • Wild Card (for topics that don't fit the above content areas

Call for Proposals

CSU faculty from all disciplines are invited to submit proposals for the 13th CSU Symposium on University Teaching, hosted by California State University San Bernadino (CSUSB), and co-sponsored by the CSU Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) and the Chancellor’s Office.

The CSU Symposium is a peer-reviewed conference for teaching and learning, and offers the following content areas for conference proposals:
