Development Opportunities
The Cesar E Chavez Institute Proposal Development Group

Faculty from the College of Ethnic Studies or research teams with at least one member from the College of Ethnic Studies who are working on proposals for external funding are encouraged to apply to CCI's Fall 2010 Proposal Development Group.
Advanced proposals are of particular interest, even if previously rejected.
Mentorship, peer support, office space, networking possibilities, and limited support for research related expenses (e.g., replacement and release time, RA support, or intersession pay) for a maximum of $5125 will be provided.
Research must relate to one of CCI's three areas of socially engaged scholarship:
- Self-Determination
- Health
- Education
Three research projects will be selected by the end of April. Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- A social justice focus, especially as relating to communities of color (30%)
- Real community impact -- explicit, detailed focus on community engagement, potential to affect policy, create a program or clarify a critical issue in our communities (30%)
- Reasonable probability of getting funding (20%)
- Need for support (20%)
Applicants should provide the following in electronic form:
- A current Curriculum Vitae
- Proposal of at least 3 pages (draft or final version with comments if submitted and rejected(
- A one-page cover sheet summarizing the research and specifying what is needed to complete the proposal
- If known, the name of the institution to which the proposal will be submitted
